Daniel 9:1-2 records “In the first year of Darius son of Xerxes(a Mede by descent), who was made ruler over the Babylonian kingdom, in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the LORD given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years."
Daniel not only has a prayer life, but also loves to read the Word of God. Reading the Word of God and prayer are two things that must go together in a believer’s life. They are like a coin, so that your spiritual life can grow properly
He prayed not just only to fulfill the requirement of the prayer’s task. He never took prayer lightly. Whenever he prayed, he prayed with his heart. He even prayed by fasting.
Daniel 9: 3,” So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with Him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes”.
Prayer in fasting is very important for a believer. It gives us strength for our spiritual lives and gives us power to overcome the desires of our flesh. When we are ignorant about prayer in fasting as a believer (leader of a church), our faith begins to waver and we are afraid to continue to carry the spiritual tasks that our Savior has entrusted us to accomplish. Finally, it leads us to say, "I can’t, we can’t." When we willingly spend our time with God in fasting, we feel the presence of God. We are clothed with His power and all the things that makes us worry disappear. This doesn’t mean that God loves us more than others because we are fasting. But the result of fasting in prayer is incredible blessing, power and amazing life and ministry. It can only be fully understood by those who practice and experience this personally.
Jesus himself practiced fasting prayer in His ministry. The apostle Paul practiced it as did other apostles and early Christian believers. Prayer in fasting and reading the Word of God are the secret of my success in ministry.
If one can do the same in his or her life or ministry, he or she is in the Bible School of the Holy Ghost. There is no other better Bible school than this in the world.
1Corinthians 2:11 “For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.”
